Course Description

The purpose of this course is to further develop reading and analytic skills for understanding extended works of prose and dramatic fiction. The course will build on the basic critical vocabulary introduced in ENGL1000. The genres covered in this course include the novel and drama.

Intended Learning Outcomes (ILO)

CILO-1: Produce a well-informed and intelligent written commentary in correct academic format on a modern novel written in English. CILO-2: Demonstrate advanced knowledge of this novel in its socio-historical context. CILO-3: Render a modern dramatic text into a convincing performance. CILO-4: Demonstrate advanced knowledge of a dramatic text in its socio-historic context.
