Course Description

This course aims to provide a systematic introduction to the mammalian nervous system. Topics covered include basic neuroanatomy, the electrophysiological properties of neural cells, sensory and motor systems, the structural and functional organization of the human brain, and an introduction to neural degenerative diseases.

Intended Learning Outcomes (ILO)

CILO-1: Describe the structure and function of the nervous system at various levels of organization. CILO-2: Describe the systems of the brain that control specific components of behavior, learning/memory, sensation, emotion and thought. CILO-3: Explain the pathophysiology of and clinical treatment approaches to major neurodegenerative diseases. CILO-4: Examine closely and evaluate critically the primary research on neuroscience topics.
